I provide a number of computer services, on both Linux® and Microsoft® Windows® operating systems.

Linux Services

Demonstration – Are you unfamiliar with Linux? Let me know and I can arrange a free demonstration of this stable and secure operating system. We can then discuss its benefits and drawbacks for you and your situation.

Installation – If you have installed a version of Windows yourself, you can generally install Linux. Most people, however, have not installed Windows for themselves. They will probably want someone to install Linux for them, or at least guide them through the process. In either case, I can help.

Training – If you are already familiar with computers, getting around in Linux is not hard to pick up. However, it may seem daunting at the outset, and a little hand-holding could go a long way. Perhaps you are interested in understanding better how the computer works (Linux is excellent for this purpose). Or maybe you want to be sure you are being as effective as possible with it. For any of these cases, and more, I can help.

Windows Services

Tune Up – Is your computer getting slower by the day, or is it starting to behave strangely? If so, it may need the hard drive defragmented and should probably be scanned for adware, spyware, and other junk that keep your computer from running as smoothly as it should.

Boot Problems – Will your computer not even turn on or boot up? There are numerous components in the system that can be the cause for this. I will determine if it is a problem with the hardware or software, and for hardware issues, I can usually replace the malfunctioning part.

Open Source Applications – Looking for some good software for your Windows computer? I will install and help you get started with any of the programs listed here. You may be pleasantly surprised with the quality of these "open source" programs. If you are looking for a program that serves a particular purpose, I may be able to find an "open source" program for you.

General Services

Data Recovery – Did some important files get deleted from your hard drive and you need them back? Whether it be family photos, or spreadsheets for work, I have experience recovering files that many people thought were lost for good. Please note: the ability to recover files diminishes quickly as you continue using the computer. As soon as possible after recognizing the loss, you need to shut down the computer and get it to someone who can perform the recovery.

Home/Small Business Networking – Do you want to share an internet connection, files, or printers among two or more computers (or other networkable devices) under the same roof? Please note: at this time, I do not install cabling in walls. If you need the network to span multiple rooms, you should get proper wiring pre-installed or we can discuss wireless options.
